7:45pm - 8:30pm - Oscar Stegnaro

SIX Time Grammy-Award Winning Bassist and Educator Hailing from Peru, Oscar studied at the Conservatory of Music in Lima while working extensively as a first-call session musician and live performer for many international artists and local bands. He moved to the U.S. in 1979, where he continued his studies with pianist/educator Mike Marra, and Jazz great Jerry Bergonzi. Since then, Oscar has become one of the most in-demand performers the on the East Coast. His mastery of different music styles from Jazz and Fusion to Latin, Brazilian, and South American music, has allowed him to travel the world performing with a virtual who's who in the Latin and Jazz worlds respectively. Throughout his illustrious career, Oscar has accrued six Grammy Awards with a total of nine nominations.

Oscar has also been a Professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston since 1988. He is also the Executive Director for the "Berklee Latino" program. He's been largely responsible for the school's development of Latin education, instituting several courses on Latin and world bass styles. 

Oscar is the co-author of the “Latin Bass Book” published by Sher Music, a complete work on how to play bass lines in the Afro Cuban, Brazilian, Caribbean, and South American music styles. He has also written the Afro Cuban Slap Book published by Berklee Press/Hal Leonard. He is currently working on a a new book for Bass, Drums and Piano “New Trends in Latin Jazz” an intensive study of Latin American rhythms from Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay and their applications in Latin Jazz. Oscar is a contributing writer for the Magazine “Musico Pro” for the monthly articles “Latin Bass Masters,” and “Bass Concepts.”

Based in New York City, Bryan Ladd has been on the touring and recording circuit for nearly ten years.  In addition to leading his own project, Bryan is a member of the electro-soul-jazz group Progger whose 2016 album "Scattering" was just released on Ropeadope Records.

Bryan has also performed and recorded with artists including Alyson Williams, Ari Hoeing, Vivian Green, Melba Moore, Cliff Almond, Melissa Morgan, Mike Mainieri, Gordon Chambers, Jonathan Scales, Kenwood Dennard and many more.

Ida Nielsen is a Danish bass player (and guitarist, piano player and composer) who might be mostly known for the honourable task of holding down the low end for the legendary artist PRINCE.
She joined the NPG in 2010 and later on 3rdeyegirl and was part of his bands until his tragic and untimely passing in April 2016.

But Ida also have a project of her own and has just released her 3rd solo album “turnitup.”
The music is best described as a mixture of old school funk mixed with hiphop, reggae and world music -with ear catching melodies and lots of bass.

FEDERICO MALAMAN-born in Italy in 1979-Bassist-Double Bassist & Arranger-

Federico Malaman, currently one of the web's Top bassists, in the course of his musical career, to date, has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as George Benson, Solomon Burke,Wilson Pickett,Al Jarreau,Kid Creole.

Moreover, for years was bassist and arranger of major Italian television shows, one of all, the Italian edition of "Dancing with the Stars" with Paolo Belli's Big Band.

In his musical journey, including concerts, records, TV shows and international trade fairs music, he has had the honor to meet and play with musicians of the highest level, such as Virgil Donati,Victor Wooten, Alain Caron,Andrew Gouche,Hadrien Feraud,Yolanda Charles,Leo Nocentelli, Gergo Borlai, Damien Schmitt, Mike Mitchell, Donald Hayes, Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Stef Burns, Andrea Braido,Ada Rovatti,Ellade Bandini,Maxx Furian,Christian Meyer,and many more.

Currently, in addition to running his own solo career, he is on tour with Mario Biondi, one of the most popular singers Soul & Jazz, both in Italy and abroad (UK, Germany, France, Japan, Russia and other countries).

Jazz Inside Magazine calls Brazilian bassist, bandleader, composer, producer Amanda Ruzza “...an ‘artist’ in the total sense of the word”. Not only does Amanda head her own projects, which experiment with new forms and melding genres, she also works extensively as a side musician and session bassist. Artists she works regularly include Amy Lee (Evanescence) Jill Sobule, Arturo O’Farrill, Fred Ho’s Eco-Music Big Band, Leni Stern, and Dave Eggar to name a few. Amanda draws on her multicultural background as s primary influence on her passion for composing music - music that seamlessly assimilates elements of funk, jazz and South American rhythms.

Double bass, electric bass player, arranger, composer and teacher, Maurizio has worked and collaborated, live and in the studio with greats such as: Vince Mendoza, Chaka Khan, Metropole Orchestra, Jim Hall, Mike Stern, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman , Alex Acuña, Hiram Bullock, Michael Manring, Otmar Ruiz, and many others.

Since September 2000 the head of Rolli's tones Big band that composes and arranges the repertoire and cure the organic and the concerts. With this group he recorded a tribute to the music of Jaco Pastorius (with the participation of Michael Manring and Mike Stern) entitled "Moodswings" and "Rolli's Tones", with guests such as Peter Erskine caliber, Mike Stern, Hiram Bullock, and many others, for which he started collaborations with famous world-renowned orchestras such as the Metropole Orchestra (conducted by Vince Mendoza), the Chicago University Jazz Big band (directed for years by Bill Russo) and the chamber orchestra "the Musical Afternoons" with artistic direction of composer Ivan Fedele.

Grammy® Award winning producer Andrew Gouché has completed his long-anticipated debut album, We Don’t Need No Bass.  With over 30 years of experience as the bassist for many R&B and Gospel legends as Prince and the New Power Generation, Gladys Knight, Andraé Crouch, The Winans, and musical director for Chaka Khan, his project speaks to his Gospel roots but showcases a broader musical gift blending Jazz and R&B into a soulful variety of songs.  

A world-renowned bassist, musical director, producer and composer, he is best known for his creatively original bass lines and a unique sound that bass players around the world have sought to emulate.  His distinctive sound is the core of the Andrew Gouché signature line of bass guitars.  Having graced the cover of Bass Player Magazine and industry interviews over the years, he has been tagged as a Gospel legend.

London born US based Bass player and record producer Janek Gwizdala has been on the international music scene for over a decade. He has been touring as a band leader and working as musical director or sideman with some of the most respected names in the industry. These include: Randy Brecker, Hiram Bullock, Mike Stern, John Mayer, Airto Moreira, Chuck Loeb, Peter Erskine, Flora Purim, Pat Metheny, Billy Cobham, Bob James, John Patitucci, Bob Mintzer, Marcus Miller, Jojo Mayer, Paul Shafer, Dennis Chambers, Gary Novak and Wayne Krantz. As a recording artist and band leader Janek has released 7 albums as a leader, as an author published two critically acclaimed books,  and toured the world extensively, while also touring as a lecturer and clinician at the world's leading educational establishments.

10:45pm - 11:45pm - Michael League

Michael League is a Grammy Award-winning bassist, guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, label owner, and bandleader based out of Brooklyn, New York.

Michael runs the band with a grass-roots approach to the changing music industry that seems crazy, but has worked. Kinda. In early 2012, he launched his own imprint, GroundUP Music, under Ropeadope Records. The bands on the label kick ass.

Michael is passionately committed to music education and outreach, having given clinics at over 100 schools throughout the United States, Canada, Asia, Pacific, and Europe. He also plays with and produces for a multitude of artists so that he doesn't go insane only performing his own music. It almost works.

Although he is most notably known for his work with the band Snarky Puppy, he will be bringing his project FORQ as our finale performance of the 2017 Bass Bash.
